My missing seal has been found~~ and it’s finally going to make a revival on my paintings since 2006 or 2007, I don’t even remember the last time I used it.
It’s carved out of stone, and I watched the guy carve my name on it, which is why I wasn’t really happy when I thought it was missing. I got this from China. The temporary chop I made was carved out of an eraser because I refused to import another one. I have no trust on buying it online where I don’t get to watch the artist work. XD (I have a feeling online stuff are carved by machine rather than by hand which loses a lot of what makes each seal unique)
Since my old stone
and expensive chop went missing, I ended up carving my own so I can go and sign my paintings properly. T^T I’ll go have this done professionally after I flip my old room upside down and the original one doesn’t turn up.
So. Every night after work, this is what I do.
2 hours and I only finished the fishes *_* I spent half the time waiting for it to dry before I could start with the next color.
My final paintings for 2013 XD One of the things I realized after a while of doing these types of paintings was how I actually ended up regulating my breathing while I painted. I don’t know why or how that is relevant at all, but it was almost involuntary.
ofdarklands - I haven’t sent my practice stuff to you yet. I finished my last session first XD I’ll try to send it next weekend if not this Tuesday.
This has taken over my life the past month. Guess who’s learning Chinese painting~
Probably one of the most significant thing I’ve heard from the master was, “You don’t have to paint the flower. Paint the essence of the flower.”
After that particular phrase, there’s less hesitation in my brush strokes since I don’t have to copy down to the tiniest detail anymore.
Also, apparently Chinese painting is all about “the control of water”. And yes, I am enjoying myself. This isn’t my usual art style but it feels good to pick up something new (and from a legit master for once —- he’s this really old man with a very swift swish of brush).
My warlord!Cas tag is back. Cheer.

Made with Paper
In which I just doodle my thoughts of purgatory and still fail at it.
Beseeching, thus, good penitence for us
and for themselves, those shades moved on beneath
their weights, like those we sometimes bear in dreams –
each in his own degree of suffering
but all, exhausted, circling the first terrace,
purging themselves of this world’s scoriae. (Purg. XI, 25-30)
